CR in Retallack
Mar 16 2009
I am up in Retallack, an amazing cat ski operation, in the interior of British Colubia. I am filming with Poor Boyz Productions for their next film, "Everyday Is A Saturday." Tanner Hall, John Spriggs, and myself are all up here and we had a killer session.
In Retalack, you can ski everyday. There are no down days here. On snowy days, we took the cat up in the trees and would mash around below tree line. On the sunny days we would make our way as high into the alpine as we could. The avy danger was unstable at first so we had to stay out of the alpine entirely and away from unsupported, convex rolls. Now the danger is pretty stable so we are able to explore a little more.
We have had an all time session up here. The powder has been incredible and the terrain is as fun as it comes. We have mostly been playing around with miny-golf below tree line. Some days we ventured into the low alpine, but for safety mostly stayed away from that.
I vibe in Retallack is worth coming for alone. It is a powder bubble up here, you could almost say it is exactly what living in a snow-globe would be like. With our crew and the staff of Retallack, the people are amazing. I have to give a BIG shout out to Carl the Gnarl, who is our cat driver up here. His energy alone could power L.A. for at least a few days. He gets as pumped up as you can imagine and radiates the best energy. On top of that, it constantly snows up here. It has been CRAZY deep. The powder is so light and SO deep. The terrain is unreal, the cooking is five-star, and everything is perfect. It is our happy little snow globe.
